PAST-The Friends were formed in early 1999,when a petition of 300 names was collected by two dog walkers and presented to the local M.P. They were concerned at the many problems arising on Kinson Common, a local Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. A Committee was formed and a good working relationship was forged with the Countryside Officers of Bournemouth Borough Council and other organisations. We are also supported by Natural England.

PRESENT- All the Friends are Countryside Volunteers with Bournemouth Borough Council. We really enjoy our duties, which include litter picking, scrub clearance, monitoring wildlife and any problems that may arise. Great satisfaction is gained by being out and about in the fresh air and seeing the results of our hard work. One of our first tasks was building the steps at the Glenmeadows entrance in 2000 and then in 2002  helping to construct the Jubilee Walkway which allows access for all. We also enjoy many social activities, these include rambles and guided walks.

FUTURE- As a conservation group, our aim is to preserve Kinson Common for future generations to enjoy .We are always looking for new members to help us, so if you are over 18 years of age and enjoy conservation work, why not join us ?
